Sure, we all know of Aston Kutcher from his time on the big screen, but lately he has accomplished far more than just that. Kutcher has spent his money giving back in some of the most amazing ways.
For anyone who has been living under a rock, Kutcher has been away from the big screen for quite some time. He is well known for his role on That 70’s Show and in movies like The Butterfly Effect and No Strings Attached. That being said, he has been spending quite a few years dedicating his time to helping abused children and people who are victims of human trafficking.
Back in 2009 with his then-wife Demi Moore, he started a human rights organization known as the DNA Foundation. This organization worked and still works towards fighting the issue of the sexual exploitation of children. While the organization did change its name when Moore and Kutcher split to Thorn it is still working full swing with help from both sides.
I believe Kutcher’s work is something we all need to be aware of. There are tons of children being exploited and it needs to stop, Kutcher’s cause is one we should all be behind. Kutcher works with the likes of Google and Facebook to use technology to aid the police in identifying abusers. They work hard every day to shut down those doing harm to children.
Kutcher told INC as follows:
“It is not the force for good or the force for evil. That’s you. You are the force for good or the force of evil. There are millions of images that are transferred daily of child abuse material. We’ve identified 6,000 children that are being abused. We’ve identified 12,000 adults that are also being abused and 6,000 abusers.”
“The only question we have to ask ourselves is, ‘how good are we?’ I’ve articulated my purpose. The question is, what is yours?”
Kutcher is quite passionate about this and has made a huge mark in the world of the abused. Child porn and things of the sort are a huge problem, as there are literally millions of images transferred of child abuse material each and every day. The internet has brought forth an explosion in regards to the illicit trade of child sexual abuse images and videos.
Kutcher also said as follows which was reported by ABC News and speaks volumes about how dedicated he is to this cause:
“As part of my anti-trafficking work, I’ve met victims in Russia, I’ve met victims in India, I’ve met victims that have been trafficked from Mexico, victims from New York and New Jersey and all across our country. I’ve been on FBI raids where I’ve seen these things that no person should ever see.
I’ve seen video content of a child that’s the same age as mine being raped by an American man that was a sex tourist in Cambodia. And this child was so conditioned by her environment that she thought she was engaging in play. She’d been abused for three years and they’d watched her for three years and they could not find the perpetrator, asking us for help.
We were the last line of defense. An actor and his foundation were the potential last line of defense. That’s my day job and I’m sticking to it.”
