Sometimes we go through periods of time where sex just isn’t an option. This can cause a lot of different issues that most people would never think of.
If you are dealing with a dry spell then you might be going through some of the things listed below. Not having sex does affect your body and this varies based on your health, age, and of course the kind of sex you were having to begin with. That being said, I am not talking about those who are only going through a short spell, I am talking about going without sex for more than a few weeks or a couple months.
9 Things That Happen to A Woman When She Goes Through A Dry Spell:
Sexual activity actually contributes to your body’s proper immune functioning. You see, sex increases your levels of IgA or immunoglobulin. This increases your resistance to sickness, no sex means you aren’t getting the extra IgA.
2. Her libido drops or significantly increases
We are all different, for some there will be a decrease and others an increase. For some their body actually dampens their hormonal response to arousal. But as I said, everyone is different so you won’t know which you are until you give it a try.
3. She becomes more stressed
Sex is something a lot of people use to help cut back their stress levels. Some studies have even found that higher blood pressure related to stress is linked with those who do not have sexual intercourse regularly. Regular intercourse is associated with better psychological and physiological function.
4. She may have trouble sleeping.
According to Dr. Laura Berman, the director of the Berman Center for Women’s Sexual Health having sex before you go to bed could be the key to preventing insomnia. Berman spoke during an interview with Tucker Carlson (The Situation with Tucker Carlson MSNBC) and she says that when we have sex we release neuropeptides known as endorphins. These help us cut back on stress and get a better night’s sleep.
5. She might experience memory loss on some level depending on your age.
Sexual experience causes cell growth in the hippocampus according to a study done back in 2010. This meaning it could prevent the decay that ultimately leads up to memory loss or even dementia. It also allows neurogenesis which is the creation of new neurons in the brain. This meaning it increases cognitive functioning as well.
6. She may feel down in the dumps.
When we have sex we are giving ourselves a connection. This connection is not just physical. During sex, we are releasing hormones and endorphins. According to Dr. Streicher, sex boosts our spirits better than most things.
7. Her tolerance for pain become a little worse.
You see during intercourse we release oxytocin this is basically nature’s Aspirin. If you suffer from some kind of chronic pain, sex can and will help get rid of some of the symptoms you experience. If you aren’t having sex you may need to increase the amount of medicine you are taking depending on how often you were having intercourse before.
This one, for the most part, applies to those in relationships who are not for whatever reason having sex with their partners. This can cause serious relationship issues and make you feel like your partner is not attracted to you. When it comes to a sexless marriage, no one is benefiting.
9. She may struggle to get wet
Regular sex is a means of kicking your sex organs into gear. If you aren’t having it you might not be able to get aroused as easily. When you have gone through a long break you may need something extra to get things going. While this is similar to your libido decreasing it is still a bit different. You see, you may want to have sex but still, your body just isn’t getting wet like it should be.
