Mental health is something people are talking about in current times more and more. A lot of people who did not realize that they had a mental illness are taking the steps to get the help that they have so desperately needed.

While it is not a definition recognized in the medical world it is very real to those who face it. 1. You are forever doubting yourself.

You basically hate yourself. You are always doubting yourself and the things you are doing, nothing ever feels like it gets you where you are wanting to go. You second guess everything.

2. Even the smallest setbacks feel huge.

Even when something that doesn’t matter happens you feel like it is the end of the world. You make every bad thing into something much worse than it has to be or is. Everything just affects you on a level that is much more intense than it should be.

3. You struggle to really feel happy.

You do feel content sometimes but real happiness is something you cannot find. You don’t know what is wrong or how to achieve it and that brings you down even more. Feeling happy seems almost impossible no matter how hard you try or how badly you want to.

4. You don’t go anywhere unless it is completely necessary.

You refuse to leave the house unless you absolutely have to. You do not go anywhere except for work and well that’s basically it. You just don’t feel like going out, ever.

5. You are overly irritable.

If you are irritable or angry a lot of the time you could be dealing with a lot of depression. Being irritable is something that a lot of people goes hand in hand with depression. There has to be something making you feel the way that you are.

6. You are far too critical of yourself and sometimes others.

You are overly critical of yourself and the people around you. When someone does something wrong it is a much bigger deal than it has to be. You just drag things out so much more than you need to.

7. You use ‘bad habits’ as a way to cope.

You have some pretty bad vices. While other people know when to stop you don’t. You keep going and use it as a means of coping.

8. Work is far more stressful than it should be.

You only work because you have to work. You don’t work because you love what you do. Getting through the workday causes you so much stress but you somehow manage to get through it.
