Have you ever noticed that some people are just more susceptible to falling prey to psychopaths? While they may not quite know what is going on or why these psychopaths are drawn to them, they are.
Just because someone seems perfect doesn’t mean they are (nobody is). Psychopaths start off charming and sweet, but once the mask comes off they are without a doubt your worst nightmare. Some people are more susceptible because of certain personality traits that make them easy targets.
Below you will find a list of those traits and if you are someone who has these traits you need to work on them. Please don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being yourself, but some of these are not healthy traits to have. You can be happy all on your own, you don’t need to continuously look for happiness in other people.
8 Traits That Might Be Making You More Susceptible to Psychopaths:
1. Lacking self-confidence or self-esteem.
If you are someone who is lacking in these areas the psychopath will find you to be an easy target. You are going to want to be in their lives because they are giving you the time of day. Just because someone has something to do with you and makes you feel good doesn’t mean their intentions are positive ones.
2. Seeing the good in people even when you shouldn’t.
If you are someone who tends to see the good in people even when you don’t have reason to you will find yourself surrounded by toxic people. Psychopaths target those they think will give them the benefit of the doubt in most situations. Are you one of these people?
If you are someone who always goes into things thinking you can fix the person or the situation you will find out quickly that you were wrong. There are some people who cannot be helped and you can never really fix anyone. They must fix themselves and most do not want to do that.
Trusting blindly is a huge problem. If you are someone who is quick to trust others you are going to be taken advantage of a lot in like. You should let people prove to you that you should trust them not the other way around.
5. Being codependent.
being codependent is never a good thing. You should be able to act on your own and stand on your own two feet. If you cannot take care of yourself emotionally how do you expect someone else to?
Love is not the key to ending loneliness. Most people who are feeling lonely are in relationships and not alone. Just because you have people around you doesn’t mean the feelings will subside, sometimes people make us feel more lonely than being alone.
7. Being someone who avoids conflict/confrontation.
If you are someone who does not do well with confrontation psychopaths will target you because they think you will be easy to take advantage of. You will be someone they can sway with ease. They can use you without having to worry about you standing up for yourself.
If you are overly sensitive the psychopath will think he or she can mold you into who he or she wants you to be. You will be surprised how much they will try to change you and break you. Being sensitive is fine but you have to know who to trust.
