“Because what’s worse than knowing you want something, besides knowing you can never have it?”
― James PattersonThe Angel Experiment

Sometimes in life, we end up falling for people we simply cannot have. Be it people who are emotionally unavailable or people who are merely not interested in us for whatever reason. These people while some may have led us on still owe us nothing.

That being said, it does not make it hurt any less. Loving someone who does not love you back is one of the most painful things a person can go through. Below you will find a list of things that may help you get over that unrequited love. While our minds want us to be obsessed, we can overcome it.

7 Things That Will Help You Finally Let Go Of That Person Who Refuses to Love You Back:

1. Admit to yourself that this crush is going nowhere.

Don’t let yourself continue obsessing. Really take the time to think things through. This crush is not going anywhere if it were it would have by now. You cannot wait around forever.

2. Find something to take your mind off of it.

Get out there and work towards your goals. Find new passions and hobbies. Don’t let thinking of this person rule your mind.

3. Remember that if he or she doesn’t want you, you cannot change that.

Remind yourself that sometimes people just don’t click. This person not being interested in you is not the end of the world. You can’t change this person’s mind but you can find someone more worth your time.

4. Get your feelings out.

Write everything down and tear it up. Really let all of your emotions out. This feels amazing and will benefit you greatly.

5. Distance yourself from this person.

Don’t be around this person any more than you have to. If you are going out of your way to be noticed and still not being noticed there is no point. Be yourself and stop trying to be who you think this person wants.

6. Remind yourself that letting go takes time.

Letting go takes time. You won’t be able to forget this person overnight. Just remember that you are doing this for yourself.

7. Meet new people and be realistic.

Meet new people and be more realistic in general. Find someone who doesn’t ignore you or make you feel small. Friends and romantic partners can be found in some of the oddest places.
