If we didn’t have some of the most important inventors from history like Albert Einstein or Thomas Edison, life would be very different today. Perhaps we would have never discovered electricity if it wasn’t for Benjamin Franklin’s own experiments. One of the most important scientists and inventor from history is Albert Einstein!
Albert Einstein was a German-born physicist who developed groundbreaking theories while working as a clerk in the Swiss patent office in Bern. He is responsible for some of the most common everyday things we couldn’t live without like cellphones or solar panels. There are many reasons we should all be thankful for this truly brilliant man. Einstein actually immigrated from Germany when the Nazi’s took over power just before World War II. He identified himself as Zionist and won the 1921 Nobel prize for his theory of relativity and his photoelectric effect. After immigrating the United States he lived out his life studying in Princeton, New Jersey.
Einstein is the perfect example of how one person can massively change the entire world. He is an inspiration and life would not be at all the same without him, and for that we are thankful! Here are seven reasons you should personally thank Albert Einstein for!
1. E = MC2
Albert Einstein was responsible for the math equation energy equals mass times the speed of light squared. That might sound complicated and useless to you, but it very well might be the code of the universe! Without it, we wouldn’t be able to have nuclear energy.
2. The Brownian Movement
The Brownian movement was discovered by Einstein when he was studying the zigzag movement of particles in suspension. This is the very movement that proved the existence of atoms and molecules. It’s responsible for basically every branch of science today.
3. Theory of Relativity
The theory of relativity was described by Einstein as the gravity being a curved field in the space-time continuum. His phenomenal photoelectron effect was also derived from the theory of relativity.
4. The Manhattan Project
The Manhattan project was a United States operation that led to the development of the atomic bomb in 1945. While not particularly a good invention, it was scientifically groundbreaking. Einstein was also known for campaigning against nuclear weaponry and war.
5. Quantum Theory of Light
Einstein’s theory of light proposed that light is composed of small packets of energy called photons that have wave-like properties. This further led to the invention of the television, computers, cell phones, and basically anything that has a screen.
6. Special Theory of Relativity
The special theory of relativity explained time and motion are relative to the observer as long as the speed of light remains constant and natural laws are the same in the entire universe.
7. Energy Free Refrigerator
Einstein also designed a refrigerator that did not require energy to power it. It was called Einstein’s refrigerator and it uses ammonia, water, and butane to work and it used almost no energy.
