Sure, we all think we know how to avoid falling for narcissists but do we really? Far too often they end up much too close for comfort.

Narcissists are people who have an excessive interest in themselves. Their sense of self-importance is inflated sometimes to an extreme level, and they crave attention from others. Narcissists are very unique but not in a good way. They are unable to handle criticism in most cases and tend to be quite emotionally abusive to their partners.

While some of these things will be easier to spot than the rest if you’re with a narcissist all will be quite present. If you find that your partner is a narcissist then chances are cutting ties will be your best option.

1. Your partner is always breaking rules.

Narcissists go out of their way to break rules. They think that the rules do not apply to themselves. This is because they feel that they are on a different level than others.

2. Your partner controls the conversation.

Narcissists tend to carry all conversations they are in. No matter the topic you won’t be able to get hardly any words in. Oftentimes they will shift the conversation from the topic at hand to themselves so that they can boast about something.

3. Your partner is always trying to impress.

Narcissists are always trying to impress others. They want to be seen in a positive light. It’s as if they feel like they need to be better than everyone else.

4. Your partner is quite charming.

Narcissists are very charming individuals. While eventually, their true colors will show they can still charm the pants off of most people. The mask they wear is a very good one that most cannot see through.

 

5. Your partner thinks too highly of his or herself.

Narcissists think that they are literally better than everyone else. They don’t think that anyone is on their level. Their ego and self-importance are extremely high in most cases.

Narcissists love to interrupt others. They might pretend they don’t realize they are doing this, but they know all too well what they’re doing. They want to take over the conversation, so they do, it is as simple as that.

Narcissists almost always expect special treatment. They want others to bend to their needs and refuse to do the same for anyone else. They literally act as if the world revolves around them.

Narcissists like to be in control of other people. They often go out of their way to make all the important decisions within their relationships. They won’t give you time to make any decisions for yourself.

Narcissists tend to lash out when they don’t get what they want. If you tell him or her ‘no’ they you’re in for a disaster. They will get what they want one way or another.

10. Your partner like to make you feel bad.

Narcissists might not admit to this, but they really like to bring others down. They will always do their best to undermine any accomplishments that a person makes. If you think you’re doing something good they will always come at you with something even better and if you make a mistake they will never let you hear the end of it.

11. Your partner is not what you’d call reliable.

Narcissists will not be there for you when you need them. They always disappear when things get tough. This is because they just don’t care.

Narcissists are always working to control the people closest to them. They want to be in charge of everything. They might even go out of their way to isolate you.
