Psychopathy is one of the most difficult disorders to spot because in most cases the psychopath comes across as charming and ‘normal.’ With that being said, underneath the facade is a manipulative person who lacks a conscience.

While psychopaths are toxic to be around and can ruin our lives not all of them are criminals like most people would prefer to believe. When it comes to why a person may be a psychopath or become a psychopath you could blame it on a number of things from genetics to their environment. No two psychopaths are the same and they can be the exact opposite of what you would expect based off opinions and stereotypes alone.

If you want to know how to spot a hidden psychopath the list below can help you. However, it is best to remember that you may not be able to notice all of these things without getting close to the psychopath. If you are close enough to spot all of these things you NEED to take several hundred steps in the opposite direction!

10 Signs That Help You Spot Hidden Psychopaths:

1. They are overly charming.

You will want to talk to them or be around them at first. They will come across as a great person, and you will enjoy interacting with them. They want you to like them.

2. They feel no empathy.

A psychopath feels nothing for other people. They do not relate to the emotions of others and don’t really care to even try. If you want to know whether or not someone feels empathy, pay very close attention to how they react to the pain and suffering of those around them.

3. They are overly charismatic.

They find ways to get along with everyone. Of course, they do this through lying and deceiving but it still seems to work for the most part. They will be extremely friendly and come off as VERY approachable.

4. They do not take responsibility for their own actions.

If they do something wrong they will not own up to it no matter how hard you try to get them to. I am sure you have come across someone like this at one point or another, I know I have.

5. They seem to feel superior to those around them.

The psychopath really does truly believe that he or she is better than everyone else. They believe they are smarter, more attractive, and more EVERYTHING.

6. They do not feel guilt, ever.

They can do anything to anyone without feeling bad about it. If they want something they will get it no matter who they have to hurt in the process. If you try to guilt trip a psychopath you are without a doubt wasting your time. You can explain why they should feel guilty for something to them until you are blue in the face and nothing with come of it.

7. They cannot be trusted.

They lie far too often and do so to manipulate others. Even if you catch them in a lie they will do their best to get out of owning up to it or ignore you completely. You can’t trust a psychopath because any and everything you tell them WILL be used against you.

8. They mimic emotions rather than actually feeling them.

This one is very hard to spot because some psychopaths are so good at pretending to feel something you cannot tell the difference. Psychopaths are incapable of truly caring for anyone other than themselves just because someone comes across as genuine does not mean they are.

9. They are risk takers.

They do whatever they need to do to get ahead. This is part of the reason why they are so toxic. If ruining someone else’s reputation is necessary to get the promotion they want, they will get it done. They organize their misconduct well so chances are you may never notice this one until things are already spiraling out of control in a bad way.

10. They do not care about anyone but themselves.

They will not think twice about breaking someone else down to build themselves up. The well-being of others does not concern the psychopath. They will only do something if it benefits them, this includes harming those who they are supposed to care about.

Psychopaths are really REALLY good at what they do. If you find yourself close to one like I mentioned earlier get away from them. There is no need in allowing them to remain in your life further. Do not try to ‘beat them at their own game’ or anything of the sort. People like this do not change and while they need to seek professional help YOU need to pay more attention to your own well-being.
