LSD, Psilocybin, and Mescaline could they actually be better than we thought? Sure all of these warrant a good time but are they improving our mental health as well?
According to a study from the Journal of Psychopharmacology, they are. Their research showed that taking psychedelic drugs does not increase depression or cause mental health issues as most people assume, they do the exact opposite! If you have ever talked to a person who has partaken in any of the above you know that they all talk about how eye-opening their experiences were and how life changing it was. Of course, for quite some time we have been aware that Psilocybin can benefit a person making them more open and creative.
A study at the John Hopkins University of Medicine in Baltimore actually found that even as little as one single mushroom can cause a person’s personality to be positively affected for up to a year. It is mindblowing how the prohibition of these psychedelics can be justified as a public health measure when there are so many benefits to gain from them. There is overwhelming scientific evidence showing just how safe these things are and yet they are still targeted when it comes to the “war on drugs.”
The first study mentioned above also covers how psychedelics are not addictive and are unlikely to cause any serious adverse effects. The use of psychedelics has been linked to a lower rate of mental health issues. Another study done on Psilocybin at the University of South Florida even showed that it was able to remove conditioned fear in mice. That meaning it could be used to cure PTSD. Psilocybin is also known to promote the growth of brain cells on top of all of this.
While Marijuana has been in the spotlight for quite some time now it appears psychedelics may be making their way into the light as well. More and more positive information is making itself heard.
