During a spiritual shift, we can experience a variety of emotions and issues that may come to the surface during this time. Due to this, we may have to change some things in our personal lives in order to reap the benefits of this immense energy.

While this shift is taking place, when you feel like being alone is the answer, don’t let yourself feel bad for doing so. Sometimes we need space and whether we truly understand it or not it can be a truly healing experience. You are not wrong for providing yourself with the things you need.

Being alone allows you to really find the best ways to support your soul. It allows you to tune into who you are and work within to find yourself properly. Spending some time in isolation is one of the best means of self-care possible. You might want to surround yourself with people for a while and then resort back into this kind of shell here and there and you shouldn’t be overthinking it.

We outgrow people and places throughout our journeys here in this world, and if you have outgrown someone you don’t have to force yourself to put up with them. Being alone allows you to really expand and process your emotions. You should never let anyone make you feel like you owe them something just because they think you do.

You see, in this life, we tend to get very wrapped up in other people and their feelings. This happening so much so that we forget to take our own into consideration. Through having alone time or being alone with yourself you are able to remind yourself of who you truly are and free yourself from any energies that have been building up. You cut the cord that others have tangled you up and are more able to move freely.

If you are going through the process of becoming more awake, you will have to experience solitude and aloneness from time to time, as there is no way to avoid it. The less you resist the quicker the period of aloneness will be over. While it is a frustrating process sometimes, it benefits us greatly and pushes us to be more in tune with our higher selves.

Maria Erving describes this time of aloneness as a time of discovery and wrote as follows on her website:

One of the things you’ll discover is that the spiritual path is not for the meek or faint-hearted.

You will have to be willing to give up all illusion and attachments so sometimes there are times of severe, hellish turmoil and turbulence.

And it’s not even about that; it’s not about your willingness in that sense, it’s more about an acceptance that this is the way it goes.

Your willingness is really of no concern when it comes to Truth, it will take you on the path whether you like it or not.

The acceptance is for you, not for Truth, it doesn’t need it.

If you go ‘willingly’ the path becomes easier of course, but it’s more about surrendering and letting go completely into the process where even the one who is ‘willing’ is let go of.

In the process, you will learn a lot about who you are not, which is the greatest teaching there is, and you will learn about trust, about love in its truest form, and about commitment.

The commitment you have to the path (that is only shown to you one step at a time) gives you freedom because you’re no longer distracted by the things that are not relevant to your current growth process.

Such as boyfriends, girlfriends, and other friends.

Sometimes a person comes into your life, it can be a brief encounter and you learn or receive something from them, but you can forget about permanence in this phase of your process.

There will be an in and outflow of people during this time, a friend or some kind of company appears here and there (many times in the form of pets and animals), and teachings and teachers emerge only to leave again quite quickly (and sometimes come back again).

You might be drawn to a mentor, or a specific book, situation and so on, all which is there to help you progress, but you will come to see that none of them will stay or become permanent in your life.

For the time being, you’re on your own and that’s the way it goes.

Embrace the isolation and see where you end up being taken in life. Spiritual shifts are not the end of the world. Being alone is not going to break you and you can be whoever you want to be once you are able to figure out your next move. Do not worry too much, as everything happens for a reason.
