Our planet Earth has been experiencing some record breaking natural disasters. Hurricane after hurricane, then earthquakes, and now three volcano’s are on the brink of eruption!
After Hurricane Harvey, Irma, Jose, and Maria people are desperate for a break of the long chain of natural disasters unfolding upon planet Earth. After the hurricanes, people suffered from record breaking monsoons and floods in southeast Asia, earthquakes in California, New Mexico, and Mexico! Right when we think that there is possible way something else could happen, there are active volcanoes in Mexico, Indonesia, and Vanuatu are labelled as imminent eruptions.
As smoke rolls out with ash and red hot rocks, villages are being covered in ash and hundreds of thousands are being forced to evacuate. Popocatepetl volcano near Mexico City began showing life on Wednesday. It was just last week that they were struck with record setting earthquakes that claimed the lives of hundreds.
Additionally, on the major tourist attraction island of Bali, a disaster official said there were hundreds of tremors from the active volcano being recorded daily – and that’s not all either. On the Pacific Island of Vanuatu’s, a rumbling volcano is threatening to erupt too. Authorities have begun evacuating the entire island before the volcano blows. Home to about 11,000 people, the evacuating process could take at least a week. The government spokesman Hilaire Bule decided they couldn’t risk people’s lives so they ordered the evacuation.
New Zealand military flew a plane over the volcano on Thursday and reported that there were huge columns of smoke, ash, and volcanic rocks were billowing from the crater. Vanuatu is approximately one quarter of the way from Australia to Hawaii. It’s composed of over 80 islands, 65 of which are inhabited. However, the nation is considered to be one of the world’s most prone to natural disasters with a half dozen active volcanoes, regular cyclones, and earthquakes.
Perhaps the massive amounts of natural disasters occurring are the effect of our own mistakes, and a product of global warming. No matter what, things on earth are changing fast and it’s getting rather scary. Stay safe amongst the powers of mother nature my friends.
