We’ve all been there before, you are trying SO hard to get through your work day, but it’s taking every ounce of willpower that you have just to keep your eyes open. There is nothing you wouldn’t do for the opportunity to curl up and take a short nap to help you get through the day. This new desk design may be the answer to all your problems!

Now, you may think this is nothing more than a novelty, but some would argue there are serious reasons to consider the opportunity to take a nap when needed! In their 2017 survey, the National Safety Council revealed that 43% of Americans believe that they do not get the adequate sleep required to do their job safely, or to make clear, informed decisions. This can lead to workplace injuries, poor decisions, lack of productivity or avoidable errors – all of which can be costly to employers across the nation.

Just how much of an impact can a lack of sleep have on our ability to do our job? Canada’s WorkSafeBC warns that lack of sleep may actually be comparable to being inebriated in the workplace. In fact, 17 hours without sleep is said to leave the body in a state that is comparable to a blood alcohol level (BAC) of 0.05. If you go 21 hours without sleep, that increases to a 0.08 BAC, which is the legal limit to operate a vehicle in the United States. Pull an all-nighter? If you hit 24-25 hours without sleep, you’re now operating a state comparable to a 0.10 BAC!

Don’t worry employers, Greek design company Studio NL has revealed the perfect solution! Known for their innovative architecture and product design, they have once again hit the ball out of the park. This incredible workstation provides a sleek, professional desk when you’re hard at work, one you would be happy to invite a customer in to meet at.

However, as the day goes on, if you find yourself struggling to keep your eyes open, the desk morphs to provide a comfortable bed. Better yet, if you’re looking for a little privacy while you take your midday nap, you can close up the walls on this hybrid desk/bed, creating your own little nook where no one can see you. Throw in earplugs, and you won’t even realize you’re in the middle of your workplace! Sweet dreams!
