Most people in the Western world have heard of hacktivist group Anonymous, and to at least some extent are aware of some of their work. And while they first began as a network of hackers working against the establishment, now, for the most part, the group hides behind closed doors and produces video messages to the world.
With their former leader Christopher X on the run in Canada from the U.S government, and other members being imprisoned, it appears that the group may have placed them self on the down-low for a bit. However, that didn’t stop the mainstream media from making them the center of their recent focus, after the group released a video predicting the obviously impending WWIII.
Truly, all the group explains in the video are the facts. In their own words, “all signs of a looming war on the Korean peninsula are surfacing.”
Continuing, “But unlike past world wars, although there will be ground troops, the battle is likely to be fierce, brutal and quick. It will also be globally devastating, both on the environmental and economical levels.”
And while this may be news to anyone that has been living under a rock for the past year, most of us have come to understand how true this prediction is. In the video, Anonymous explains how the unresolvable tensions between the U.S, China, North Korea, Japan and the Philippines will ultimately lead to the most devastating war we have encountered yet.
However, for whatever reason, the mainstream media has completely lost its mind over the video. Outlets including the New York Post, AOL, The Daily Mail and even the Independent have reported on the video.
The New York Post even referred to the video as ‘chilling.’
But honestly, the only new information included in the video is regarding the Australian presence in the conflict. According to them, the Trump administration has been working diligently with the Australian government and that Australia could be considered the ultimate ‘strategic location in the Indian Ocean.’
And while the mainstream media has ignored a plethora of good news stories, they couldn’t resist yet another chance to insight fear mongering and sensationalized history to produce higher ratings. However, if Anonymous had actually hacked into anything to obtain this story, it would be likely that the mainstream media would use the opportunity to discredit Anonymous and quite possibly even call for their heads. But, as long as Anonymous can feed their ratings, who cares?!
