In a recently viral video, a disturbing scene is depicted in which an NYPD officer traumatized a young pregnant woman with a stun gun. The officers arrived at the young woman’s home Friday evening, and because she requested a warrant for them to search her home, she was accused of resisting arrest.
Darlene Rosario, 17, a 14-weeks pregnant teenager, was swarmed by nearly a dozen officers during the incident Friday night. Prior to being shocked with 50,000 volts, she claims that she told the officers about her pregnancy. “I was resisting them because I didn’t do anything wrong,” Rosario told News12.
According to her family, the police officers were already in the same building due to a separate incident. However, when the landed on the fourth floor, Rosario’s boyfriend began fighting with her sister’s boyfriend due to a video game. As the officers made their war to her floor, her boyfriend was already gone.
Rosario’s sister wouldn’t allow the officers into the home without a warrant, so backups were called. Rosario states that the officer then said, “Oh, since you’re refusing,” and grabbed her into the crowd of officers. The police then stunned her, while other officers broke down her door.
The video, which has made its way to the internet was recorded by an eye-witness. While they twist Rosario’s arm, you can hear her telling the cops to get off of her. And just as she stated, moments after telling the officers she is pregnant, they shoot her with a stun gun. Of course, this isn’t the only time police officers have brutally handled the innocent to ensure compliance. Despite the fact that she was obviously innocent, she was arrested for “fighting.” Due to this, her family is suing the NYPD.
