Sure, we know there are people who enjoy gardening, but for us night owls gardening sounds out of the question, right? Wrong; there are tons of flowers and plants that actually bloom at night which would be perfect for what is known as a ‘moon garden.’
Moon gardens are especially beautiful as the glow from the moon reflects off of these plants. Cultivating a moon garden is actually a wonderful way to get in touch with nature, especially when you work weird hours and spend all of your time in the nightlife. On the spiritual side of things, these plants will be absorbing energy from the moon so if you are into drying out plants and using them for charms, you will benefit greatly. I find a moon garden to be one of the most perfect places to relax after a long day.
You really feel entranced when you allow yourself to let go and take in all that the moon and these flowers or planets represent. When it comes to making a moon garden you can use any plants you like, but the more white the better as it reflects the most moonlight. Personally, I believe a mix of night blooming plants, as well as day blooming plants, work best. Below you will find a list of my favorites when it comes to moon gardens.
Night Blooming Plants:
- Night Phlox
- Night Scented Orchid
- Evening Primrose
- Tropical Night Blooming Water Lilies
- Night Blooming Cereus
- Angel’s Trumpet
- Night Gladiolus
- Casablanca Lily
Day Blooming Plants:
Other Good Additions:
All of these silvers, whites, and spurts of bright colors will come together to make the perfect moon garden. You see, the day blooming plants and the other additions make the night blooming plants all the more amazing. Each thing listed above will work together with the rest to make your moon garden perfect. Of course, you can add or remove as you see fit but I wouldn’t change a thing myself.
Moonflowers are actually some of my favorite flowers and you can see why in the video below. They almost seem like something from a sci-fi film. I feel so out of this world when I am sitting and watching them.
While making a moon garden is quite the task it is well worth it. The peace that comes from having the energy from the moon truly drawn to you is like nothing I can explain. Sure, gardening is not for everyone but if you want to garden don’t think you can’t just because the sun is no longer out by the time you get home.
