Brazil is one of many countries to impose a ban on Monsanto’s GM grown crops. Why is it that here in the US it is hard to find anything that isn’t modified yet other places refuse to grow them altogether?
That should serve as a red flag to most, just because we are told it is okay doesn’t mean that it is. This is another major blow for Monsanto as they are being shut out of many country’s food programs altogether. The farmers of Brazil have decided to forgo feeding their chickens GM corn and use something a little more ‘real.’ Brazil is the second largest grower of GM corn but if they refuse to use it, that should tell you that we shouldn’t be eating it.
Brazilian farmers are even a part of an international resistance against cultivated GM seed. Russia has banned all US corn and soy imports themselves to prevent GM contamination. Today there are nineteen total countries in the EU that have banned GM crops. If you want to learn more on Genetic Modification and why there is so much controversy over GMOs and such please watch the video below. It may be a little older but it is extremely informative, enjoy!
