Sure, we often think of feelings and emotions as the same things but are they? They have two separate words for them for a reason!
Emotions are what we feel, and feelings are the act of showing emotion, but there is so much more to it than that. I recently came across a Ted Talk given by Dr. Alan Watkins founder of Complete Coherence. His talk goes over why we feel the things we feel.
He really brings about a new understanding of our ‘feelings’ so that we can take control of them. You see, we create ‘feelings’ for ourselves, and no one else can make us feel anything. We are in charge of how we react to the world. Watkins says that poor emotional control really is one of the main things holding us back in this life.
Watkins explains emotions as energy in motion and we are constantly having emotions 24/7 but we do not always feel these emotions, that is the difference. We do not quite understand our true selves and this can be a problem. Becoming the best versions of ourselves that we can be is not as hard as we make it out to be. The more we know about ourselves the better.
Watkins says most people get stuck at a young age in their minds and emotions. They work hard to do nothing but battle the rules. The key phases of human development really do have a lot to do with how we control our emotions.
Take the time to check out his Ted Talk video below and let us know what you think. Remember to really pay close attention to what Watkins is saying and let his words sink in. Everything truly is connected, why do we feel the things we feel?
