Narcissists, as we all know, are very ‘full of themselves.’ They tend to go out of their way to manipulate those around them are quite unpleasant once their true colors begin to show.
We have all been in the presence of a narcissist at some point in our lives whether we noticed them or not. They are good at hiding themselves and for the most part do go unnoticed, to be honest. While spotting them can be a bit tricky there are tons of things that can help.
I have actually found that asking yourself specific questions in regards to specific people you can learn a lot about them. While all narcissists come out from behind their masks sooner or later we would much rather unmask them ourselves before they are able to do any damage, right? Below you will find a list of questions that will help you to identify whether or not someone in your life may be a narcissist. If this person does in-fact pan out to be a possible narcissist you should cut ties and find someone better to spend your time with. You are no doormat.
3 Questions That Will Help You Determine Whether or Not Someone is A Potential Narcissist:
What is this person gaining by being in my life and what am I gaining? Are we both putting forth the same amount of effort in regards to one another? Really get to the bottom of why this person is in your life and the simple ‘I like him/her’ is not a proper answer. Be very thorough when it comes to figuring out the answers to these questions for yourself.
2. Does this person care about me?
For this one, you need to look at the person’s actions. Do not focus so much on words as narcissists are very good at playing with words and then never actually following through on their promises. Does this person make commitments to you often, but never actually show up? Is this person there for you in the ways you are there for him or her?
On the surface this person may have tons of friends but how does he or she treat those friends? Who or what does this person truly care about? If the answer you come to is his or herself then you probably shouldn’t be wasting your time on them.
When it comes to the people in our lives if we are not being cared for at all and they are only using us for their own personal gain they are far too toxic to keep around. We only get one life why waste it being used? Life is too short to let people who aren’t going to be there when you need them hold power over you. Be strong and surround yourself with people who will help you through the things this world throws at you.
