The first was created around 100 years ago, this happened in an attempt to make part of the desert usable for farming. A well that was drilled and they actually hit the geothermal boiling water. The Great Blue Hole is a large underwater sinkhole off of the coast of Belize. It is over 984 foot across and 410 feet deep. It is the world’s largest natural formation of its kind.
