There are more serial killers in this world than you might think. While we can’t pick every single one out of a crowd we can try to pinpoint the potential ones close to us.
There are several signs you should look for when considering if someone may grow up or turn out to be a serial killer. When it comes to this sort of thing you need to pay attention to your friends and family. Below you will find a list of the most common traits of potential serial killers. If someone you know has these traits then you need to be prepared. Enjoy!
1. They have a terrible family life
A lot of serial killers are abused and suffer through all kinds of traumatic experiences. The abuse they go through causes them to feel helpless and humiliated leaving them to seek out something more. They will want to be the abuser to prevent themselves from feeling that way ever again. I think it is safe to say almost all serial killers have poor relationships with their families and that is why oftentimes their families are their first victims.
2. They stuck to blue-collar jobs and have trouble maintaining them
Most of the time they will flip-flop from job to job because they cannot find one they don’t completely hate. A serial killer could be anyone, even a mailman.
You know that person who insists on starting up the grill as well as the campfire every single time. They joke about wanting to burn things down but you can tell they have a little serious gleam in their eye. Psychologists say serial killers actually usually begin as arsonists because setting off fires offers a control of some sort.
4. They struggle with substance abuse
Serial killers tend to be substance abusers. They will especially be using if they cannot kill someone because of their ‘urges’ To learn a bit more about that click here.
If you know someone who likes to trap, hurt, and kill animals for fun then they will most likely be serial killers. Torturing small animals is a major indicator of something very serious. Famous serial killers like Jeffrey Dahmer, Albert DeSalvo, and Carroll Edward Cole have all admitted to abusing small animals early on.
6. They are peeping toms
If someone likes to peep at others who are in the process of undressing or doing anything private for that matter they have some kind of issue inside their mind. This act is called Voyeurism and is for some reason very appealing to young serial killers. Ted Bundy claimed to go out at night and watch the members of his community.
Now in this case you are either dealing with someone who has a severely active libido or a potential serial killer. You see, when serial killers are younger they often have strange fantasies with a sexual component. Because of this, they need to relieve themselves a lot more often.
8. They have vivid fantasies
Serial killers program themselves in childhood to become murders through an intense loop of fantasy. These fantasies are used to relieve them of their anxiety as children but become a problem later in life. Sure, you can fantasize and not turn out to be a serial killer but not to the extent these people are doing it. If someone you know thinks about killing people all the time you might wanna get them some help before they really do start killing.
9. They like to brag
Serial killers seem to need to tell people about what they have done whether they are letting their accomplices know or their next victim the need to brag eats away at them. They need the recognition. They are proud of what they have done. Their egos can be huge but do help us find them in some cases.
10. They are smart
Serial killers, for the most part, are either average or above average. Ted Bundy himself had an IQ of 136.
Does someone you know have these traits? If so you may benefit from cutting ties and moving away. Isn’t it terrifying to think someone so close to you could end up doing something so terrible?
